In 1918, Lloyd George was already planning to fight a General Election as ‘the man who won the war.’ As Alan Fowler, former lecturer in economic and social history at Manchester Metropolitan University, explained to a Zoom meeting of Local History Society, things did not turn out quite as he planned. There were 28 new cases in Calderdale (134 per 100k) as a whole for the past 24 hours. For the 7 days to 24 Feb the rate per 100k for England was 103, again, the lowest this year. More info. NUMBER OF NEW CASES COMING DOWN: 5455 new cases nationally today compared with 53285 on 1 Jan. Last summer, the numbers went down to less than a 1000 new cases a day for several weeks. In Calderdale, the number of new cases has been 28 for each of the past 2 days, compared with 120 on 8 Jan. Last summer, the number of new cases in Calderdale per day was often in single figures.
