White Ribbon's Chris Green goes to Eton
Friday, 5 February 2021
Chris Green from Hebden Bridge and Founder of Hebden Bridge based White Ribbon UK spoke at an event organised by Eton College on Tuesday 2nd February.
79 students and some staff attended his hour long workshop called "Why Me?" about the challenge of involving more men and boys in challenging violence and abuse against women and girls.
Unsolicited Feedback received from staff after the event said "It really was too short .Once it is safe to do so you must come to Eton for a whole evening event. You are the inspiration they need to get the conversation started"
Chris told the HebWeb, "The students were really on the ball, very engaged and wanting to create a more equal and respectful world. Unfortunately they were the ones who want understand and deal with the challenges of facing up to privilege and feelings of entitlement. If only we could say the same about all their fellow students and some Old Etonians who patently do not share these views."
The White Ribbon campaign is the leading charity that is seeking to end male violence against women by engaging with men and boys to make a stand against violence.
Their mission is for all men to fulfil the White Ribbon Promise to never commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women. They act as a catalyst, encouraging people, and especially men and boys, to individually and collectively take action and change behaviour.
