'Infectious' Photo Project

Sunday, 7 March 2021

As the country gradually emerges from lockdown over the next few months, residents in the Upper Calder Valley are invited to share what has given then solace and joy during the past year. Titled 'Infectious', the photographic project indicates its context in the middle of a global pandemic. But the project tries to draw attention to how more positive things can be infectious too: Enthusiasm, laughter and even a smile.

Gerard Liston, who lives near Mytholmroyd, is taking a portrait photograph of individuals in a place of their choosing, while observing evolving health regulations. Coupled with a short quotation, each contribution is added to a free online book, which they can then share with local family and friends - inviting them to get involved too:

The project - and the online book - will develop over the next 2-3 months and anyone in the area can get involved. As Gerard say, 'The aim is to show that, even in the middle of one of the most challenging periods of modern history, people can be both positive and inspiring'.
