Hebden Bridge Film Festival - with Maxine Peake as patron - Hebden Bridge is to host an international Film Festival, from 22nd- 24th March 2019 at the Picture House and the Town Hall. Poet Liz Lochhead joined the Wonderful World of Women One of the UK's greatest poets, Liz Lochhead brought her Something's Old, Something's New show to Hope Baptist Church on Sat 27 October as part of the Weekend of Wonderful Women. Read more
Over 30 local groups spoke about their activities - the Hebden Bridge Partnership once again invited local community organisations and groups to talk about what they do. Nearly 30 groups accepted the invitation. More info
Save Hebden Bridge Signal Box
After more than 125 years as a familiar sight in the town, Network Rail have pulled the levers for the last time. Two community groups have put forward proposals for the building to be saved and restored to its former Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway glory. More info and leaflet (4 Oct)

Community toilet scheme launches in Mytholmroyd. The public toilets in Mytholmroyd have been demolished. While options for toilet provision elsewhere in the town are being investigated, Calderdale has been working with local businesses to encourage them to take part in a community toilets scheme. Second Burst closes Burnley Road again - this time at Luddenden Foot. Calderdale says, "Road closed in both directions, diversions are being put in place. Please try to avoid the area." It is hoped that the road will have re-opened by Weds 12 Sept. (9 Sept)

Water Burst in Mytholmroyd closes the main Burnley Road - Cllr Tim Swift: "Due to the severity of the damage to the road and utility cables, we expect this closure to last a few days."
The Burst has stopped all traffic through Mytholmroyd and has cut water supplies to a large area, including many parts of Hebden Bridge. Police and Calderdale advising people not to try and travel through. More info and links - 4 updates as of 6 Sept.
Hebden Bridge Medical Centre appointments changes. From 30 August, there will no longer be a telephone duty doctor system for urgent appointments. Replaced, from Mon - Fri, 8am - 10.30am, by a walk-in surgery at the Mytholmroyd Medical Centre. Read more and see Forum

Calder High 6th Form to Close: Calderdale Council's Cabinet will be asked to approve the decision of the governors at Calder High School to close its sixth form on 31 August 2019. Only Ryburn will offer 6th form provision in the Upper Valley. Read more

Lloyds Bank to close in January 2019, making Hebden Bridge a town without banks. Over the years, the HebWeb has reported the closure of Barclays in April 2018, NatWest following the 2015 flood and the Yorkshire Bank in August 2005.

The story of the Fustian Co-operative at Nutclough Mill was the subject of the talk given by Andrew Bibby to the History Society. This Hebden Bridge landmark was home to a worker-run co-op which ran, at a profit, for almost 50 years achieving national and international fame. Read report

Mytholmroyd Traffic Management Changes - this evening, the traffic management, and temporary pedestrian crossing, will be moving from its current location, between Midgley Rd and New Rd, to the Caldene Bridge area. 40m of new drainage pipework has been installed and around 60 tonnes of gravel from the culvert removed.
