Mytholmroyd Traffic Management Changes

As we continue to progress the Mytholmroyd Flood Alleviation Scheme, we will shortly be changing the current traffic management configuration. On the evening of Thursday 23rd August, the traffic management will be moving from its current location, between Midgley Road and New Road, to the Caldene Bridge area. The traffic lights near Caldene Avenue will remain in this location for approximately six months whilst we carry out bridge works.
The work in the Midgley Road area over the past few weeks has involved working with utility companies to locate existing services and installing around 40 metres of new drainage pipework. We have also removed around 60 tonnes of gravel from the culvert and the new walls have nearly all been installed at the former post office site. We will return to this location later in the programme to install drainage gullies.
Relocating the traffic management to the bridge area will necessitate the removal of the temporary pedestrian crossing from its current location at the Caldene Avenue junction. The crossing will be re-established at the Grange Dean/New Road junction to ensure a safe location to cross Burnley Road.
We are working with Burnley Road Academy to ensure that the children can cross the road safely.
We appreciate your patience and understanding both as road users and pedestrians whilst we make these adjustments. We will continue to work closely with Calderdale Council and utilise the Bluetooth technology to manage the traffic flows. Please take extra care, look out for our signage and always use the current operational pedestrian crossing – which will sometimes mean a slightly longer waiting time.
