Remembrance Sunday at Pecket Well
Sunday, 11 November 2018
21 people gathered on Remembrance Sunday at the war memorial on Smeekin or Smeaking Hill below Peckett Well and overlooking Hebden Water and Crimsworth Dean, and one of Calderdale's remotest memorial: it was unveiled on 23 September 1923.
Alan Fowler laid poppies and a cross on behalf of Wadsworth Parish Council
At precisely 11 o'clock two minutes silence was observed.
It was followed by Alan reading out the names on the memorial; 34 names for WWI and 6 names for WWII
