Public meeting: ‘Planning for the Future’ - Hebden Bridge’s new Neighbourhood Plan

The second of the public meetings in 2018 (organised jointly by the Hebden Bridge Partnership/ Hebden Bridge Community Association) is on Monday 11th June 7-9pm in the Waterfront Hall, Hebden Bridge Town Hall, with the principal feature being ‘Planning for the Future: Hebden Bridge’s new Neighbourhood Plan’.
The neighbourhood plan - there isn't one at the moment; it’s being newly created for the first time – in fact covers the wider area of Hebden Royd and the surrounding upland parishes, and is reaching the stage where it will shortly go out for public consultation before being subject to an inspector’s examination in the autumn, and then a public referendum.
It will operate at the level below Calderdale’s local plan - also reaching an important final stage: the ‘publication’ version is due to be approved by Calderdale Council at the end of June, before then having its own final public consultation - allowing the neighbourhood plan to apply policies quite specific to our local circumstances.
At the public meeting there’ll be a presentation about the process and timetable for the neighbourhood plan public consultation over the summer period - when you’ll be able to have your say about the plan’s proposals - and the main issues the draft will cover. With this information you’ll be able to start thinking about what things you’d like to see and check that the neighbourhood plan has included them.
Then the Environment Agency will provide an update about progress with the main Hebden Bridge flood alleviation scheme (linked in with the Yorkshire Water reservoir trial, which has now ended); with shorter presentations about the Business Forum's website and from the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, just about to ‘open its doors’.
As at our February meeting you can also hear brief updates about their 2018 activities from such as the Hebden Bridge Business Forum, the HB & Mytholmroyd Town Board, and from a number of the Partnership’s own member organisations, including Friends of Hebden Bridge station.
