Town Council Mayor visits Pennine Heritage

Dr Carol Stow, the Mayor of Hebden Royd Town Council had an informative and enjoyable visit to the Birchcliffe Centre this week.
Frank Woolrych and Ann Kilbey, who run the Pennine Horizons Digital Archive at the Birchcliffe Centre, showed Carol just a few of the 45,000 images in the collection.
The Pennine Horizons Digital Archive (PHDA) exists to select, preserve and make accessible the photographic heritage of our community.
Amongst the larger collections are photographs from the Co-operative Heritage Trust, Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Society, Todmorden Antiquarian Society, Hebden Bridge Local History Society, Alice Longstaff Collection, Hebden Bridge Camera Club, Calderdale MBC, to name but a few.
Judith Schofield, Chair of Trustees of Pennine Heritage gave our Mayor a tour of the Birchcliffe Centre and explained its history and the aims of the charity.
