Proposals to reduce flood risk in Mytholmroyd and create wet woodlands in the upper valley. The Mytholmroyd scheme involves the relocation of Caldene Bridge, which is one of two crossing points over the Calder in Mytholmroyd centre and currently constricts the amount of water that can flow downriver. Handmade Parade Launches Book Celebrating Ten Years Joyful Streets: Ten Years of Handmade Parade, written by author Linda Green and artistic director Andrew Kim. The 96-page book tells the story of the parade and is illustrated by local photographers. More info.

Lamplighter Festival Hundreds of revellers lined the streets to watch a light and fire extravaganza when the fifth Lamplighter Festival took to the streets of Todmorden on Saturday, organised by Hebden Bridge's Handmade Parade, made by local artists and community including a host of fire shows, installations and street theatre. Pioneering plans for reducing flood risk in the Calder Valley are launched: Yorkshire Water intends to trial a change in how some of the reservoirs above Hebden Bridge are managed this winter. Hebden Bridge Junior Band would like to thank the generous people who gave to their Candlelighters collection on Christmas Eve. The band has a long history of collecting for the Leeds-based charity at the Carols in the Square and this year raised a record £609.89.

Bob Deacon, who died 1 October, was a former chair of the Hebden Bridge Partnership, a regular contributor to the HebWeb and a tireless volunteer in the aftermath of the Boxing Day flood. His funeral was at Wainsgate Chapel, Friday 20 Oct.

Accessible public toilet to open in the evening. Hebden Bridge Disability Access Forum (HBDAF) is working with Calderdale Council to re-open the accessible toilet on New Road, Hebden Bridge, in the evenings. Read more. (22 Sept)
Hebden Bridge Station car park to expand: Calderdale Council is working with Network Rail, which owns the land to the east of the existing station car park to create 46 extra places. Read more.
Hebden Bridge in the media: The Observer reports that part of Mike Leigh’s film on Manchester’s Peterloo massacre of 1819, and starring Maxine Peake, was filmed in Heptonstall. Meanwhile, The Mirror reports that the Hangingroyd Lane house used as Sarah Lancashire’s home in Happy Valley is for sale at £250k.
