Carol singing along the Calder Valley Line

Date

Carols

34 young singers from the local primary schools met at Mytholmroyd station and, with a programme of Carols, they sang on the train down to Sowerby Bridge - where their own Santa was waiting for them.

After receiving presents from Santa in the super Jubilee Refreshment Rooms at Sowerby Bridge, the young singers surprised even more homeward commuters on the train back to Mytholmroyd.

Our special guests for the evening included Pat Fraser, Mayor of Hebden Royd and Paul Barnfield, Regional Director Northern Railways and his management team. We were delighted to welcome the Neighbourhood Team from British Transport Police and for their continuing support of our station project.

The stars of the evening were the youngsters - who we must all be very proud of. They are the reason we spend over a thousand hours a year looking after the village station and (hopefully) developing the old station building - for the next generations who will be the future rail users, rail staff (perhaps) and station adopters of the 21st century!

Thank you to everyone for a super evening - Sowerby Bridge, Owen and Lisa at the Shoulder of Mutton and station secretary Sue who organised it all!

The Station Partnership is open to anyone who would like to help making the gateway to our village attractive and interesting. It is not just the gardening and you do not have to be a railway enthusiast – join in with a friendly bunch of local people and contribute your ideas towards the numerous community projects around the station area planned for the future.
