Hebden Bridge in the media: The Observer reports that part of Mike Leigh’s film on Manchester’s Peterloo massacre of 1819, and starring Maxine Peake, was filmed in Heptonstall. Meanwhile, The Mirror reports that the Hangingroyd Lane house used as Sarah Lancashire’s home in Happy Valley is for sale at £250k.

Lit & Sci lectures - five more speakers announced. Five eminent speakers will be coming to Hebden Bridge over the coming autumn and winter months, continuing the successful lecture series by the Literary and Scientific Society. Read more.

Hiroshima Day Commemoration: On Sunday, Calder Valley for CND held a commemoration of Hiroshima Day, the 72nd anniversary of dropping A-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, on the Wavy Steps in Hebden Bridge. Read more (8 Aug)

Slow The Flow Calderdale raise £3500 for competing in Tough Mudder Yorkshire - the group was set up to look at the issue of why and how the Calder Valley floods and to look at solutions to slowing the volume of water which comes down the hillsides . Read more

Hebden Bridge Station car park to expand: Calderdale Council is working with Network Rail, which owns the land to the east of the existing station car park to create 46 extra places. Read more.

Slow The Flow - Hardcastle Crags: Slow The Flow Calderdale, with The National Trust and the Environment Agency, will shortly begin a programme of activity in Hardcastle Crags aimed at slowing the flow in the river and its feeder brooks. Read more. (26 April)
