Sally Wainwright in conversation. On Saturday evening, Sally Wainwright was on stage with her former teacher, Jenny Gore for a benefit for the Little Theatre. She revealed her next TV drama series about Anne Lister, Gentleman Jack, will not now show until 2019 but will star Suranne Jones. Read more. (24 Sept)
Local NHS under increasing threat - on Friday, 22 Sept, a letter signed by more than 250 people called on West Yorkshire and Harrogate Councillors’ joint health scrutiny committee to urgently defend the area’s NHS and social care services from over £1bn cuts. Read more. (25 Sept)
Re-vamp of paths in Hardcastle Crags: CROWS have started some major path works in the Crags. The Current waymarked routes will all be renamed and a new improved map will be introduced. More info (20 Sept)

Hebden Bridge in the media: The Observer reports that part of Mike Leigh’s film on Manchester’s Peterloo massacre of 1819, and starring Maxine Peake, was filmed in Heptonstall. Meanwhile, The Mirror reports that the Hangingroyd Lane house used as Sarah Lancashire’s home in Happy Valley is for sale at £250k.

Rare, historic film not seen since 1920s which was made at the Hebden Bridge Carnival Parade and Gala in 1925 is being restored and will be shown again at the Picture House. Read more (4 Aug)
Slow The Flow Calderdale raise £3500 for competing in Tough Mudder Yorkshire - the group was set up to look at the issue of why and how the Calder Valley floods and to look at solutions to slowing the volume of water which comes down the hillsides . Read more
Hebden Bridge Station car park to expand: Calderdale Council is working with Network Rail, which owns the land to the east of the existing station car park to create 46 extra places. Read more.

Slow The Flow - Hardcastle Crags: Slow The Flow Calderdale, with The National Trust and the Environment Agency, will shortly begin a programme of activity in Hardcastle Crags aimed at slowing the flow in the river and its feeder brooks. Read more. (26 April)
