Film Festival Launch on Friday 8 March

Film Festival: 22-24 March 2019

The first ever Hebden Bridge Film Festival (HBFF) will launch the full programme of films and events on Friday 8 March. The launch event will take place at 6.30pm at Hebden Bridge Town Hall.

Festival Director, Louise Wadley and Mayor of Hebden Royd Town Council, Cllr. Dr C Stow will be speaking at the launch. A number of key partners and stakeholders will be attending and anyone interested in finding out more about the festival is welcome to join in.

Cllr. Dr C Stow, the Mayor of Hebden Royd Town Council, said, "Hebden Royd Town Council is delighted to support the first Hebden Bridge Film Festival. The exciting programme of films celebrating ‘the other’ and those who dare to be different is a perfect fit for a town with a long history of non-conformism".

Louise Wadley, HBFF director, said, “We can’t wait to officially launch the full Hebden Bridge Film Festival programme. We have announced a number of films and special guests already and have some great new additions. The full programme will truly highlight the diversity for the films we are showcasing and the range of talent.”

The launch event is open to everyone and will last approximately one hour.

Film passes and individual tickets will be available at the event. Anyone interested in volunteering during the Festival weekend can also find out more and sign up.

Two international documentaries have been added to the programme ahead of the launch event.

• Lane 0: The Lane of Dreams - Examining the struggle of a group of swimmers from developing nations trying to qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time. (Saturday 23 March)
• The Last Goldfish – A daughter's search for her lost family stretches from Australia to Trinidad and WWII Germany. (Saturday 23 March)

Events already announced include:

• Wild Rose, including a new short film directed by Festival Patron Maxine Peake who will take part in a Q&A. (Friday 22 March)
• Carmen and Lola, including Skype Q&A with director Arantxa Echevarría. (Saturday 23 March)
• Being Frank, including Q&A with director Steve Sullivan. (Saturday 23 March)
• Eighth Grade, the recent winner at the Independent Spirit Awards 2019. (Sunday 24 March)
• The Fight, including Q&A with director and star Jessica Hynes. (Sunday 24 March)
