Yorkshire Festival is backing Hebden Bridge Arts Festival

Yorkshire Festival is backing the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival by sending four of their acts to Hebden Bridge as part of county wide tours and they have also commissioned an original piece.

Huddersfield postman turned filmmaker Kevin Boniface has been commissioned to make Recorded Delivery which is a series of monologues recorded about the people he encounters on his rounds. There is a listening booth installed at the Town Hall and there'll be a special short film screening in the Town Hall on Monday 27 June.

Other Yorkshire Festival acts coming to town are quirky American folk act A Hawk and a Hacksaw at the Trades on Thursday 28 June, Halifax based company IOU celebrating their 40th anniversary with a series of interactive shows, dazzling street theatre from Without Walls and Them two Dance are creating Random Acts of Kindness on Sunday 3 July.

Arthur SmithThe festival has also announced Radio 4 star Arthur Smith (pictured right) will play the Picture House on Friday 1 July and folk legend Kate Rusby will be playing old and new songs on Sunday July 3.

Over at the Trades Club cult pop stars St Etienne play the opening night followed by jazz chanteuse Sarah Jane Morris on Sunday 26 June, Teenage Kicks featuring the cream of local young bands on Wednesday June 29, top DJ James Lavelle on Friday 1 July and Craig Charles funking up the club on Saturday 2 July.

The festival continue to offer local young people an outlet for their creativity with a showcase of work from Calderdale college students, budding thespians show off their talents in Calderdale Young Shorts on Thursday 30 June and for younger children award winning theatre company Tutti Frutti bring Wild! to the Little theatre on Sunday July 3.

Hebden Bridge Arts Festival runs from Friday 24 June to Sunday July 3.
