Folk star Kate Rusby to close this year's Arts Festival
Pioneering folk star Kate Rusby will close this year's Hebden Bridge Arts Festival with a one off show at the town's Picture House.
Kate Rusby who has produced a series of trailblazing best-selling albums fusing her traditional roots with influences from more contemporary genres makes the short trip from her Barnsley base to close the festival on on Sunday 3 July.
Arts Festival Director Helen Meller said, 'This a is dream day for us to close the festival week for us and it will be also one of the first gigs in the newly refurbished Picture House.'
Dubbed 'The Barnsley Nightingale' she burst onto the British folk scene with her debut album Hourglass and her duet All Over Again with Ronan Keating made the top 10.
Her 1999 album Sleepless was the folk nominee in the Mercury Music Prize and it won Best Album at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Rusby is also a captivating live act, with a band packed full of some of folk's best musicians, and they won Best Live act at the 2006 folk awards.
As well as hits from a twenty year career Rusby will also be showcasing songs from her last studio album Ghost, which fans reckon is up there with her best work.
Kate Rusby plays Hebden Picture House on Sunday 3 July and tickets are now available from the festival website.
