Festival and Parade team up for 'sensational afternoon' next year
Tuesday, 25 September 2012
Next year’s Hebden Bridge Arts Festival and Handmade Parade share the billing on 22 June 2013. The Handmade Parade will process through town from noon and meet the Arts Festival in Calder Holmes park for sensational afternoon of street entertainment. The Arts Festival will then open its doors for business later that evening.
‘When Andrew Kim phoned us the morning after the floods to tell us his parade had been forced to cancel, we were keen to help in any way we could, so when he suggested rescheduling the parade for the opening day of the Arts Festival, it seemed like the ideal solution. It turned out to be an amazing day and one we’re keen to replicate next year – although hopefully minus the flooding. It’ll be really interesting collaborating
with the Handmade Parade to create something new and exciting together,’ said Helen Meller, Festival Coordinator.
“We’re very excited to grow our partnership,” said Andrew Kim, Artistic Director of Handmade Parade. “This year, in addition to sharing the date, we’re keen to find opportunities for artwork, performers and participants to feed into each other’s events. It’ll be a banner day celebrating the breadth and depth of the creativity of our community!”
