Hebble Hole bridge repairs

In February, the HebWeb reported that a tree had fallen and damaged the bridge. (See HebWeb news of 2 Feb)
Subsequently, there was discussion on the HebWeb Forum. One comment: "The likelihood is that this historic bridge will be restored, subject to reports by structural engineers. But it's not going to be an easy task, and one can only wonder how those enormous stones were originally put into place."

Now contractors have started to repair the old stone clapper bridge at Hebble Hole. They will rebuild part of the pier and then hoist up the broken sections of the bridge. The two pieces will be pinned and ‘glued’ together with supporting metal struts underneath.
