Boon Army
Tuesday, 31 August 2010
Inspiral Carpets leader Clint Boon was one of the biggest stars of the Madchester revolution but since then he?s turned his hand to DJing creating the fanatical Boon Army who will be visiting the valley on Saturday.
Clint was the keyboard player and musical mastermind behind chart topping album ?Life? and penning a string of catchy pop hits including ?This Is How It Feels? and ?Dragging Me Down?. At the height of their fame Clint and the gang even gave Noel Gallagher his first job in the music industry as a roadie.
Once the Madchester bubble had burst Clint simply dipped into his huge record collection headlining rammed club nights playing indie classics at the uber-hip South nightclub and taking charge of the drivetime show at XFM.
He is joined on the decks by Hacienda veteran Phil Beckett who created the Rock and Roll Bar where most of Manchester?s best bands hang out.
The music round at the club's monthly quiz often features Madchester classics and Thursday?s titanic clash of brainwaves will be fuelled by the usual range of delicious homemade curries.
Friday sees the debut of the SubVersion crew who are dedicating themselves to bringing the best of bass-heavy dance music to Hebden Bridge and Grass Roots Discotheque will be on hand to boost the Trades sound system with extra bass.
As well as chest pumping dub SubVersion promise innovative and energetic tunes with an emphasis on the raw jungle side of drums and bass. Special guest Lost Property is hotfooting it from Manchester?s Herbal Sessions to turn the bass right up right up with the filthiest jungle sounds with visuals all night from the Black Moose collective.
?It is a massive coup for us to attract Clint out of his spiritual home over the Pennies as he is one of the best DJs in the world with a fanatical following so if you want more of the same then I?d appeal to all Madchester and Indie fans to support this event,? Trades Club spokesperson Paul Clarke told the Hebden Bridge Web.
?If you like your bass heavy then Subversion is the only place to be this week and Lost Property is another top quality DJ making the short trip up the M62.?
