Arts Festival Ale

Hebden Bridge Arts Festival will be refreshed this year by its very own, specially brewed Festival Ale, available exclusively at Moyles in Hebden Bridge. Produced by local specialists Little Valley Brewery, the beer was described by Sue Cooper of Little Valley as “floral with a berry fruit aroma, pleasant light body and a caramel taste”, and 20p from every pint will be donated to Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, a registered charity run almost exclusively by volunteers.

Moyles, who commissioned the Festival Ale, beat off competition from 400 other watering holes to win the title ‘Pub of the Year 2009’ for the Calder Valley Region, and this year will be adding to their appeal for Festival-goers by hosting an event by Ian Marchant. Writer, performer and self-confessed pub quiz addict, Marchant is the author of The Longest Crawl, an intoxicating memoir of a mammoth pub crawl from the Scilly Isles to The Shetlands, and his performance on Sunday 12 July at 8pm will be followed by a quiz featuring a unique HBAF 09 round.

Arts Festival Coordinator, Rebecca Yorke, said “Little Valley Brewery and Moyles have both been incredibly generous in pledging 10p each from the sale of each pint of to support the Festival. We’re hoping for real summer weather this year, and lots of sitting sipping Festival Ale in the sun.”

The Festival Ale will be available at Moyles from June 6 until the end of the Festival, which runs from June 26 to July 12. Tickets to all events, including Ian Marchant’s performance and quiz are available from the box office at the Festival Shop, Albert Street Hebden Bridge.
