2025 Shorts Film Festival
The Hebden Bridge Film Festival has announced that the popular international shorts competition will be held at the Hebden Bridge Picture House on Sunday 6 April 2025 as part of a day long programme celebrating short film and the talent and creativity found in the Calder Valley.
The day will be made up of three exciting events:
- The much-loved Hebden Bridge Film Festival 2025 Shorts Competition,
- A new competition for short films made in Calderdale,
- A shorts showcase screening work created in the Hebden Bridge Film Festival Culturedale Community Film workshops.
The festival will showcase local, UK and international short films selected from open submissions.
"Our team are searching for new, innovative shorts that have a strong narrative, a unique voice, or impress by making us see the world in a different way" says festival director Louise Wadley. "We are proud to be a Northern festival and excited for this special event to be part of Culturedale's Year of Culture as well as having support from the BFI's Film Hub North".
The Calderdale Short Film Competition has the theme of Inside Out and will cultivate new voices and showcase the best talent that Calderdale has to offer by offering prizes to local filmmakers. Provision, a leading Facilities House in Leeds, are sponsoring the first prize with a package rental worth £1500. Sticks & Glass are a post-house and sponsoring the 2nd prize, a full day of colour post and sound mix.
The 2025 Short Film Competition is offering cash prizes of £500 and £300 sponsored by Ewe Move and Hebden's famous cooperative pub the Fox and Goose.
