Real Voices of Happy Valley reaches 50

Listen here

Viv and Dave Boardman chat with real people from Happy Valley: that's the part of Calderdale which stretches from Todmorden via Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd to Sowerby Bridge and Halifax.

Real Voices of Happy Valley had reached 50 episodes with a chat with Alison Redfern of Walsden Scarecrow Festival.

The podcasts features Viv and Dave Boardman chatting with a variety of people of the valley raging from musicians and artists to environmental and community activists.

"The valley is awash with interesting people," Dave told the HebWeb. "In fact, everyone you talk to has a story to tell and very few realise how interesting they are. One of the most popular podcasts was with Nicola, a school crossing lady who gets kids into school each morning safely.

"We have learned how many people have intimate relationships with the environment whether they are photographing birds, making wine from fruits they've foraged, protecting parts of the valley or running forest school."

Dave and Viv are taking a break for a couple of months which gives everyone time to catch up on some of those 50 podcasts here.

They will be back after a break and have already recorded a chat with Mark Simmonds who has helped set up several co-ops in the area including his local shop/ post office in Heptonstall.
