Monday 13 May 2024
National Trust and Yorkshire Water are to hold public information event in Mytholmroyd. The evening event and Q&A to be held on 4 June ahead of landscape restoration work at Withens Clough Reservoir
The National Trust and Yorkshire Water will be holding a joint information evening ahead of conservation work taking place around Withens Clough Reservoir. As part of the partnership project Landscapes for Water, the organisations will be planting trees and installing natural flood management leaky dams from this autumn.
Everyone is invited to attend the public engagement evening, to be held on 4 June at the Mytholmroyd Community Centre, including interested locals, community/ interest groups who use the moorland, or members of other organisations who want to know more.
The audience will watch a video about the Landscapes for Water project as a whole and get an overview of what the project is aiming to achieve, the main stages of the work, the organisations involved and progress to date.
There will be some more specific information about what the work at Withens Clough Reservoir will involve, including discussion of the range of opportunities local people will have to engage with the project as it develops ‒ such as community tree planting events.
During a Q&A session, audience members will be able to ask questions to the project team from National Trust and Yorkshire Water as well as technical experts who will be present from the White Rose Forest, Natural England, the Forestry Commission and the Environment Agency.
Doors will open at 6.30pm and the event will run from 7-9pm. Booking is essential as numbers are capped at 100 people. Please see this web page or call 0344 249 1895 to book.
Jess Yorke, Landscapes for Water project lead for National Trust, said, "We're really excited to hold this event to share our proposals for the project around Withens Clough Reservoir. We hope that local people will come and actively engage with us as we'd really value their support. Landscapes for Water has been designed to have a positive effect for nature, wildlife and people in the South Pennines, and we want to include the community in our work as much as possible."
