Trio Lauren Housley the Northern Cowboys appear at Wadsworth Community Centre on Saturday 23rd March, supported by Lewis 'Burner' Pugh.
At the 2024 Americana UK Awards, Lauren was awarded 'Song of the Year' as well as being nominated for 'Best Live Act.' Singer-songwriter Lauren had previously made her mark in the world of Americana with three independent albums and a further BBC Radio playlisted single, earning her the coveted Bob Harris Emerging Artist of The Year award at 2022's Americana Music Awards UK. Lauren visits with her regular musicians as a trio.
Housley's innate talent of writing beautiful, engaging songs, was born from the intuitive craft of earthy storytelling and delivered with an emotive knock out vocal performance at their core.
Lauren blends catchy hooks with her unmistakably soulful, and uplifting voice, creating music that boasts elegantly crafted, deeply melodic, intelligent song writing, resounding with echoes of soul classics of the 1960s: her music is infectious, emotional and powerful.
"What I love about Lauren's voice, and the music she makes with her stellar band, is that she brings such pure, spontaneous soulfulness to everything she touches. Both on record and on stage, she's the real deal." – Paul Sexton, music journalist and broadcaster (BBC Radio 2, Sunday Times, Billboard Magazine).
Support is Leeds based Lewis 'Burner' Pugh, who is influenced by everything from bluegrass and country through to skiffle and punk. Brought up on bluegrass and folk music, he plays traditional music and his own songs which are often political. He also plays with The Burner Band.
