Writers, artists and conservationists oppose windfarm

350+ writers, artists and conservationists have written an open letter to the Times Literary Supplement (TLS) re the Calderdale Wind Farm
In February 1994, the campaign to prevent the Flaight Hill wind farm was under way. An open letter was sent to the Times Literary Supplement opposing the wind farm. It was signed by 64 writers and artists, including Ted Hughes, Alan Ayckbourn and Jeanette Winterson. It appeared on 18 February 1994.
Thirty years on, another open letter was sent to the TLS, opposing the Calderdale Wind Farm. It was published online and in print on 15 February 2024. It was signed by 356 writers, artists and conservationists, including Frieda Hughes, Alan Ayckbourn, Jeanette Winterson, Robert Macfarlane, Sally Wainwright, Mark Cocker, Andrew Motion, Benjamin Myers and Horatio Clare.
