All amateur boxing clubs aim to nurture future champions, but Hebden Bridge Boxing Club may well achieve this noble ambition in the person of eighteen-year-old Kai Fenton (pictured right) who has won an elite Yorkshire belt in his first outing as a senior amateur boxer making him a three times Yorkshire champion in his weight division.

"My current amateur record is 15 wins in 24 fights including two by stoppage," explained Fenton. "I train at Hebden Bridge Boxing club with my coach Cass, sometimes even three times a day and I'm there most days. My aim is to box as a professional winning titles and championships. But only when my coach decides I'm ready. There's no rush. This year I'll be entering more regional tournaments and Box Cup competitions." 

Chief coach Clayton Varey is complimentary. "Kai is an outstanding, dedicated athlete with a bright future as a professional boxer. He's also a great asset to the club and having completed England Boxing coaching courses he now coaches younger children for whom he's a fitting role model."

Kai Fenton knows he'll rely on sponsorship to achieve his ambition.
