Discover the secrets of Wainsgate Chapel at its Heritage Open Day on 17th September, from 2 to 6 pm. This Grade II* listed building and former Baptist chapel, nestled on a hillside above Hebden Bridge, is set to host an immersive experience of its rich history.
Bring your smartphone to follow the intriguing QR code trail that unveils hidden narratives about the chapel and its surrounding graveyard. A captivating video installation will explore the textile industry's profound impact on the area, adding a fascinating chapter to your understanding of local heritage.
Engage in a thought-provoking conversation with Alan Gardner from the National Trust who will unveil the architectural secrets behind the building's construction.
The day will also feature a live stone carving demonstration by the esteemed West Riding Stone Carving Association, offering a tangible connection to the area's historical craftsmanship.
Charlie Morrissey who runs Wainsgate Dances and has worked with a great team for this year's Heritage Open Day says, 'It is not just an event; it's an experience. We will journey back in time in a unique, interactive way and uncover some of the rich, hidden stories of Wainsgate Chapel.'
