Flood Alleviation Scheme: Trial hole work
Friday, 25 August 2023
As part of the continued preparation work for the Hebden Bridge Flood Alleviation Scheme, BAM Nuttall will shortly be commencing work to undertake a series of trial holes in the town during September, October and November.
The work will involve digging trial holes (small excavations) at a number of locations in the roadway. The trial holes are required in order to fully map the various utility services beneath the road. This will provide information to enable the necessary drainage work later as part of the main flood alleviation scheme.
Trial Pits will be undertaken at the following locations:
- Central St
- West End
- Calder Holmes Park
- Crown St
- St Georges Gate & Bridge Gate
- St Pols car park
- Handingroyd Lane & St Georges St
- New Road
- Lees Yard (Rd)
- Albert St
- Hope St
- Valley Road
- Old Gate
The work will be carried out on a rolling programme, which will mean that traffic management will be in place for a number of days at each of the different locations listed above. Working hours will be between 7am-6pm. There will be a requirement to temporarily suspend specific bus stops and crossings for some for the work.
More information about the location and dates of the trial holes can be found by visiting www.eyeoncalderdale.co.uk under the flood works section.
