Station booking office closure demo

The news of proposed closure of the booking office at Hebden Bridge station has provoked outrage. A quickly arranged protest brought out more than 50 people in the rain to make clear that this booking office is valued by the community and will not close without a fight.
The protest was called by Cllr Scott Patient (pictured left above) and was widely supported. Scott said, "We can't stand by and let this happen. No Way! Our booking office doesn't just sell tickets. People ask for travel advice and get great support finding the cheapest and best routes. Hebden Bridge is a tourist venue and the idea that tourists only show up on work days is for the birds."
Three ticket Offices are scheduled for closure in Calderdale and local campaigns are getting under way to defend them all.
