Immerse yourself in a Journey of Music and Nature
Propellor Presents Flight // In Conversation, 15 July
Prepare to be transported to a realm of extraordinary atmosphere and inspiration as Hebden Bridge Arts presents Propellor: Flight // In Conversation, a truly unmissable music event as part of the Open Space 70 festival. Taking place on Saturday 15 July at the historic and atmospheric Hope Baptist Church, this immersive performance promises a captivating fusion of live visuals, incredible musicians and composers, a renowned author and naturalist, and captivating sound recordings from nature.
Flight // In Conversation, curated by Propellor director Jack McNeill, offers a unique exploration of the connections between astonishing bird migrations, the significance of listening, electronic reconstructions of soundscapes, and the science that unites them. Accompanied by a chamber ensemble featuring Delia Stevens on percussion, Robin Beatty on guitars and live visuals, with Jack McNeill on clarinets and live electronics, the performance weaves together music from the Flight podcast with live conversations featuring award-winning author and ornithologist Mark Cocker and sound artist and acoustic ecologist Linda O'Keeffe.
The premiere of Flight // In Conversation, held in partnership with Lancaster Arts and The Future Places Centre in July '22, received critical acclaim for its innovative blend of music, conversation, and environmental themes. Due to the improvisation and collaboration involved, each performance is unique and Hebden Bridge will witness the first public outing of the piece by the intimate chamber ensemble.
