Folk Music at Wadsworth Community Centre
Bryony Griffith and Alice Jones
Friday 3rd February, Doors 6.45, Show 7.45
Two nationally acclaimed musicians play Wadsworth Community Centre, Old Town as part of Independent Venue Week.
Huddersfield's Bryony Griffith and Ripponden's Alice Jones got together over lockdown and produced a wonderful, universally praised album of Yorkshire folk songs '"collected in Yorkshire and by people living in Yorkshire."
The album 'A Year Too Late And A Month Too Soon' is included in Mojo's top 10 Folk Albums of 2022. Having been involved in a wide range of musical projects, Bryony (vocals, fiddle) and Alice (vocals guitar, harmonium, piano) will bring their unique repertoire of harmony, history and Northern banter.
Straight up, beautiful and bold folk singing - Mark Radcliffe BBC Radio 2
Opening the evening is the superb singing of John Bromley (Kimber's Men), who is one of the finest bass singers on the British folk scene today. John plays guitar, whistle and bodhran.
It is sure to be yet another entertaining evening up at Wadsworth.
