Saturday, 6 August 2022

Slow The Flow has just 2 weeks of events left in their Climate Action Roadshow which continues this week.

'Together We Can Slow The Flow' is a climate action roadshow taking place across Calderdale this summer to raise awareness about the increasing impact of climate change on our lives and encourage people living and working in the area to take action to prevent major flooding events given the increasingly extreme weather.

Funded by the National Lottery Together for our Planet initiative, the roadshow is aimed at empowering communities to tackle climate change by slowing the flow of water in upland areas, as well as around homes and businesses on the Valley basin.

Bede Mullen chair of Slow the Flow said, "The purpose of the roadshow is to highlight relatively simple things we can all do to reduce flood risk, whether building leaky dams and planting trees in upland areas or creating rain gardens or green rooves in our homes and businesses. "
"We want to get the word out that whilst climate change and more major flood events are inevitable, Together we can slow the flow".

The Together We Can Slow the Flow roadshow was funded by the National Lottery Together For Our Planet fund and Yorkshire Prepared.
