Listening to the Land - a Local Pilgrimage
Tuesday, 26 October 2021
Meet at Wadsworth Community Centre at 12 noon.
Sunday, November 7, 2021 At 12 pm – 7 pm
We invite you to join us for a creative and reverential kind of activism, linking in with the London to Glasgow Pilgrimage for Nature and the COP 26 Climate Change Conference UK 2021
At this time of increasing uncertainty for our planet and all its inhabitants our intention is to deeply connect and listen to the land we walk through, sending out our prayers and building strength, hope and resilience in our local communities.
We shall come together as a circle of people to share songs, ceremony, dances readings and a pilgrimage walk.
We will walk in silence up onto Midgley Moor to an ancient earth circle. Here we will gather in ceremony before returning to the community centre where we will write down our messages and prayers of hope and intention. For those wishing to stay there will be hot food and drinks, at approximately 5.30pm.
For people with mobility limits there will be silent prayer, songs and readings at WCC, to link in with the pilgrimage.
Donations will be collected towards venue costs and the charity 'Tree Sisters'.
For more information about the Listening to the Land Pilgrimage see see the website
The Pilgrimage will take approximately 3 hours. Wear suitable footwear and waterproofs. Bring along snacks and drinks for the day, and food for a shared meal (optional).
