Grants from Hebden Bridge Rotary Club

Saturday, 11 April 2020

The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge awards grants to local, national and international charities and good causes. Grant income comes from running events such as the annual Easter Monday Duck Race and the Hebden Bridge Vintage Weekend. Each year, they distribute around £45,000 in grants.

With the Easter Monday Duck race postponed, hopefully to be held later in the year, and the annual Vintage Weekend is in doubt because of restrictions caused by Covid 19, the funds available for the club to distribute as grants to charities and good causes will be limited in the coming year.

To make what funds we have go further they are restricting the maximum grant to £650 per application. There will be exceptions for particularly good causes, for example, they have recently donated £1000 to the Bridge Rectifier to support their work in making PPE visors for healthcare workers to protect them during the current pandemic.  You can read about, and get involved in what they are doing here.

For the time being, priority will be given to grant applications that support dealing with the recent flooding in the valley and the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Applying for a grant

Applying for a grant is a simple two stage process. First complete an online form which asks for contact details, information about your organisation and a short description (max 500 words) of your reason for applying for a grant.  At the second stage, applicants who meet the club's criteria for funding will be invited to complete a more detailed grant application form which will be considered by a committee of the club.

Applications can be made at any time and are generally determined on a two-month cycle. Requests for emergency grants can be determined in hours as in the case of the recent grant to the Bridge Rectifier.
