Greenham Common exhibition at the Town Hall

Monday, 23 December 2019

A new exhibition about Greenham Common will be launched at Hebden Bridge Town Hall on 6th January 2020. Focusing on the memories and memorabilia of women living locally in the Calder Valley, 'Our Greenham' features photos, leaflets, badges, interviews, song sheets, banners and even a camp kettle.

One of the organisers, Judith Baron from Calder Valley CND commented “It's surprising just how many people now live in the valley who were involved with the protests at Greenham Common back in the 80s and 90s, whether it was living there for months or years, or just being a regular visitor. We have centred this exhibition on our own memories, things from our scrapbooks and boxes in our attics. It feels particularly appropriate to revisit Greenham as an epicentre of resistance to nuclear weapons at a time when Donald Trump is tearing up the nuclear treaties which have helped keep the peace for decades”

'Our Greenham' runs from 7-28th January, with an opening launch event on 6th January 6.30-7.30pm to which all are invited. We would particularly love to welcome former Greenham women and their families & friends.

If local women have anything they would like to contribute to the exhibition, they should get in touch with cath@yorkshirecnd.org.uk.

There will be limited space to add in some items on the day.
