Supporting the Mayor's charity, Slow The Flow Calderdale
Raise your White Russians and tie your bowling shoes. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, The Big Lebowski returns to Hebden Bridge Picture House for one night only on Monday 24 September.
The Coen brothers' quintessential cult film, powered by breakneck pacing, irresistibly quotable dialogue and brilliant performances now has a worldwide following despite confounding critics on its initial release.
The screening on the 24 September, organised by Hebden Royd Town Council Mayor, Cllr Dr Carol Stow, aims to raise funds for the Mayor's charity, Slow The Flow Calderdale, to help them continue their work in the Calder Valley to alleviate flood risk, using Natural Flood Management methods.

There will be a 8 minute film screening prior to The Big Lebowski showing the work of Slow The Flow Calderdale at 7.40pm, followed by the judging of the fancy dress competition at 7.50pm. First prize is 4 cinema tickets and the second prize is 2 tickets to a film of your choice.
There will be a variety of ways to show your support for the local flood prevention charity over the course of the evening, as ticket sale proceeds will go to the charity (and there will be the opportunity to donate your loose change to the Slow The Flow donation buckets too).
White Russian cocktail
To celebrate 20 years of the cult classic film, the Hebden Bridge Picture House will also be serving The Dude's beverage of choice, the White Russian cocktail.

Doors will open at 7pm, the film will start at 8pm. The film has an (18) certificate so the event is adults only.
Tickets are available to buy in advance via hbph.co.uk for the prices of £7 per adult, £6 per senior (60+ ) / Passport to Leisure holder and £5 per young person (Ages 18-25) / Full time student. Please bring cash on the night for the kiosk and bar.
About Slow the Flow Calderdale
Slow The Flow Calderdale was set up to look scientifically at the issue of why and how the Calder Valley floods and to look at natural flood prevention measures and solutions to slow the volume of water which comes down the hillsides into the River Calder. They are a group of dedicated engineers, scientists, landscape experts, and those working in land management. They are working with Government, The Environment Agency, Calderdale Council, The National Trust, Treesponsibility, The Source Partnership, The Calder & Colne Rivers Trust, Pennine Prospects, Calder Futures and the Flood Wardens along the Calder Valley to seek a solution to this continuing and growing problem.
