Share and celebrate the Community Association's Queen's Award
Tuesday, 20 March 2018
Hebden Bridge Community Association are receiving the Queen's Award from the Lord Lieutenant's Office this Saturday 24th March at 11am and are busy creating a free celebratory event around this which will run from 10am through until 11.30am.
In 2017 The Community Association was awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of the volunteer-led response to the devastating Boxing Day floods in 2015. This is the MBE for voluntary groups and the highest award a voluntary group can receive.
An award for all volunteers
The Community Associationhave always regarded this as an award for Hebden Bridge: the volunteer response to the floods of December 2015 was truly remarkable and they think this award belongs to every volunteer who walked through the Town Hall doors or rang and offered help in the aftermath.
As part of Saturday’s event, the Community Association will be giving everyone who volunteered at the Town Hall a mini-Queen's Award of their own as a badge.
Refreshments and cake will be available during the event.
Music will be available from from Dave Nelson (of Piano Festival fame). The Deputy Mayor of Calderdale, the Mayor of Hebden Royd Town Council and hopefully as wide a selection of the town’s volunteers as possible will be going.
Do please come along !
