Hebden Bridge Boundary Walk
Tuesday, 6 June 2017
The weather was almost perfect for walkers and runners in the Hebden Bridge boundary walk, last Sunday 4th June. The walk is organised by Rotary club of Hebden Bridge with all profits going to local, national and international charities and good causes.
A couple of heavy showers early on, threatened to spoil the day but the sun came through to provide an ideal walking day. The walk was enhanced this year by an extra 4 mile loop from Widdop taking in Gorple reservoirs, around a dozen hardy souls took on this extra challenge and were not disappointed with the fantastic views.
We had 135 walkers and runners taking part with the fastest coming in below 3 hours, notably Mark O’Connor and Alex Whittem, and the slowest in around 10 hours, probably including much needed refreshment in the Packhorse and Blue Pig, but a great day was had by all. The Rotary Club appreciates the always positive comments we receive at this event.
The event this year was admirably led by Rotarian Mike Travis, ably assisted by hard working Rotarians, thanks for your efforts guys in organising a great event. Certificates were presented to runners and walkers by club President Phil Warrington.
All funds raised help local, national, and international charities and good causes. A full list of donations made by Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge can be found via our website.
