Happy Valley Pride launches 'Heroes' Art Exhibition
Wednesday, 3 May 2017
As a part of the 2nd year of Happy Valley Pride, we are delighted to invite artists to participate in an Art Exhibition, with work being exhibited and sold at Nelson’s Wine Bar, Hebden Bridge during August 2017.
This year’s theme is ”Heroes – LGBTQ Heroes“.
Contributions invited
David Kennedy, fellow artist and vice-chair of Happy Valley Pride, now invites artists to provide their artistic interpretation of their LGBTQ heroes asking them to consider “Who do you admire? Who inspires you? It can be about anybody you feel is an LGBTQ hero, fictional, historical, activist, performer or writer or perhaps a non-public, personal hero – a lover, a friend, a husband, wife, family members, a stranger?”
Those contributing should include a paragraph or two with their work to explain the LGBTQ hero subject and how and why they inspire you. The medium can be painting, collage, photographs, drawings, 3D or sculpture. However, given limited display space not too large. Artists are welcome to ask market price for the sale of their work, though a donation to the Happy Valley Pride organisation would be welcome.
Work will form part of the free, month-long, public exhibition, which will launch on the evening of Tuesday, 8th August and all work will be available to purchase by the public.
