'Calder' goes on tour

Thursday, 15 September 2016

The short film 'Calder', commissioned by Mytholmroyd Arts Festival in 2015, will shortly be touring Calderdale with screenings in Blackshaw Head, Midgley, Todmorden and Mytholmroyd.

Unearthing surprising stories of a community coming together in adversity, 'Calder' documents the transformative impact of the 2015 Boxing Day flood and the personal challenges faced by individuals attempting to make positive changes in its aftermath.

In April 2016, the film premiered to a tightly-packed audience at The Dusty Miller in Mytholmroyd, where filmmakers Geoff Brokate and Paula Sutherland discussed the remarkable experience of making the work in the community in the aftermath of such a devastating event.

Tour screenings of 'Calder' will be followed by a discussion with writer and filmmaker Paula Sutherland. The Blackshaw Head event will also include a screening of Nick Wilding's short film 'Give us back our Catchment'.

'Calder' returns to Mytholmroyd during this year's Arts Festival (14th-16th October). For further information about the 'Calder' tour and other upcoming events visit the Festival website.
