'The Flood' Fundraiser single available 1st March
Friday, 19 February 2016
A quickly assembled Hebden Bridge based alternative band 'Johnny Powell and the Happy Valley' will release a single called 'The Flood' on 1st March of which all proceeds go directly to the flood relief fund.
Many of the band themselves were affected, including Johnny's daughters' school on Central Street which had the ground floor completely wiped out, and all band members assisted in the mass clean up that followed.
The lyrical content depicts the strength and positivity of the valley residents in the face of such adversity, and features quite a few local musicians to listen out for.
BBC 6 Music have asked for the song to be forwarded to them, and the band hope that this will raise more funds for those affected. 'Johnny Powell and the Happy Valley' are Lucy Conroy, Chris Derrick, Paul Mill, Martin Nuttall and Johnny Powell.
The single 'The Flood' will be released on March 1st and will be available for download here for just £1.
There will also be a limited number of CD singles, also only £1, on sale at Hebden Bridge Trades Club, The Golden Lion, Todmorden and Marco's Café. Lamberts Printers, Hebden Bridge, have also helped with CD and poster printing, local artist, Rachel Kemp, has provided the artwork, and Dreamscope TV have produced a video for the song.
