Friends of the Picture House Christmas Raffle
Monday, 23 November 2015
Last year the Friends of the Picture House in Hebden Bridge raised more than £1,500 for the maintenance and improvement of the cinema with their Christmas raffle.
This year, as raffle tickets go on sale, the Friends are aiming to do even better. Tickets will be on sale in the cinema foyer at many screenings in the run-up to Christmas and in St George's Square on selected Saturdays in December.
Proceeds from the popular Christmas raffle will go towards a major refurbishment of the foyer with better lighting and furniture as well as the re-instatement of the clock which used to hang in the auditorium. The winning tickets will be drawn at the traditional Christmas Eve screening of 'It's a Wonderful Life'.
Paul Knights, chair of the Friends of the Picture House, said, "Thanks to the generosity of local businesses in donating the prizes and cinema-goers in buying tickets, the Christmas raffle is our biggest fundraiser every year.
"It's great to chat to people while selling tickets throughout December and hear how much love there is for the Picture House. The funds raised will be put towards some very special touches to the refurbishment of the foyer next year, including some stylish lighting and the reinstatement of an original clock. It's going to look fantastic."
