Experience new ways of making with Make:Shift:Do

The Alternative Technology Centre in Hebden Bridge is one of thirty make spaces across the UK, opening our doors to the public for Make:Shift:Do.
We are working with several local people and businesses to hold an open day and taster event on the 23rd and 24th October, 12 - 4pm, for the Making Place project at Unit 7, Victoria Works, Victoria Rd in Hebden Bridge. There will be something for everyone with activities to suit all ages and skill levels.
From open-source making and the rise of 3D printers, the UK is witnessing a boom in new making, fuelled by accessible new design technology and the spread of social media.
It will be a chance for anyone to come and meet local Makers, and even have a go on the Saturday, at several activities including upcycling plastics, robotics, soft circuits and wearable technology, Brushy Bots, unmaking computers and building mini noise machines.
Bee Jasko from Rehash Panache said, "We are celebrating the range of Maker skills in the local area and look forward to working with other people in developing a Maker network within Calderdale. Seeing new technologies meet traditional creative processes is very inspiring as this project is rooted in the cooperative, creative and entrepreneurial heritage of the Calder Valley".
Make:Shift:Do, organised by the Crafts Council in partnership with the V&A, Institute of Making at UCL and Ultimaker aims to allow everyone the chance to experience these new technologies through a programme of workshops, events and activities. See website
