Speed networking comes to Hebden Bridge
Sunday, 27 September 2015
Forty three diverse local businesses attended the Speed Networking event organised by the Hebden Bridge Business Forum - including personal trainers, insolvency practices, dog-walkers, designers, jewellery makers, solicitors, care companies, tutors, software engineers, painters, decorators, travel companies… and so the list goes on!
Networking events are not a new idea and they are not rocket science. In a nutshell, they are an opportunity for business people to meet other business people, build relationships and help mutually grow their businesses. This is done through gaining trust over time and not simply saying "My name is… I run a business selling… and I want you to buy… "
If you are a person who is a little on the shy side, walking into a room of strangers who are involved in private conversations can be quite a daunting thought and many business owners might shy away. Speed networking makes it easy for everyone - it's a relaxed environment where you are not interrupting any conversations. Everyone has approximately two minutes to speak to other businesses in the room and, of course, there is time at the end to speak to those who are of particular interest.
Comments from those who attended:
"I really didn't know about all of the amazing businesses that were on my doorstep" - Catherine Davis Designs
"The format was entirely different to any other event that I have attended, a really refreshing change" - Richard Powell of Bright Leaf People
The Hebden Bridge Business Forum runs networking events every three months and is sponsored by Cresswells Accountants in Hebden Bridge. For more information about the Forum please contact their secretary, Eileen Kelly.
