Autumn Art and Craft classes for all - from the terrified to the gifted!
Northlight Art Education's new Autumn Term programme of art and craft courses has even more to offer. As a result of developing their new 'Northlight Artspace' there is now the capacity to increase the number and breadth of courses and workshops.
Additions to the programme are courses in printmaking, an evening watercolour class and daytime creative textiles. This adds to fourteen courses covering painting, drawing, stained glass, ceramics and textiles.
Coordinator Don Myers told the HebWeb, "We have now developed a range of both daytime and evening courses that we hope will suit all comers. We started out with our ever popular 'Art for the Terrified' course and have seen the demand for good quality non-accredited art courses grow and grow. We now regularly have up to 150 people attending courses every week"
The programme is also moving into new territory where art activity can facilitate a more fulfilled life. A 'Creative Wellbeing' evening class will follow a structured pathway to exploring your own creativity whilst a 'Make friends through Art' session is aimed at those wanting to meet new friends and share a common interest.
Also new this Autumn will be sessions for children. Tutor Sally Darlington is inviting young artists aged 5-15 to follow the 'Arts Award' scheme which encourages an interest in the arts and culture. The teatime sessions will cover a broad range of art and craft approaches and aim to really extend their talents.
Weekend day workshops that have proven so popular are again a feature of the programme. This term there are intensive days of Spinning, Stained Glass, Bookbinding, Lino-Printing, Machine Embroidery, Clay Modelling from the life model, Illustration, Art for Baby and a weekend to make those unique arty Christmas gifts and decorations.
Joining a Northlight course will also gain access to an enrichment programme that includes gallery visits and social events. Trips this term include the Stoke on Trent International Ceramics Biennale and the Jackson Pollock exhibition at Tate Liverpool.
The new term starts on Monday 14th September and there's a finding out and enrolment day on Saturday 5th September from 11am – 5pm.
