Calling all Young Playwrights!
Free Writing Workshop – Thursday 28th May,
Hebden Bridge Town Hall.
10-12am – How to turn your ideas into a play
2-4pm – Drop in session
Have you ever wanted to write a play?
Have you got an idea for a story that is just asking to be put on stage?
Have you ever wondered how playwrights go about starting to put their characters and ideas on paper?
Would you like the chance to see actors give life to your characters and ideas?
Yes? Then Calderdale Young Shorts is looking for you!
If you are aged 10 – 17, you have an exciting opportunity to take part in a practical workshop on how to turn your ideas into a short play. You will then have the chance to develop your ideas and to submit your play to a panel of young people. A selection of short plays will be chosen, rehearsed and performed at Square Chapel in Halifax and at Hebden Bridge Little Theatre on 2nd July as part of the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival 2015.
The free workshop will take place at Hebden Bridge Town Hall on Thursday 28th May 10am – 12 noon.
Places are limited so you will need to contact us and put your name down to take part. You can call in and sign up at Reception at the Hebden Bridge Town Hall any time before 28th or email.
If you already have ideas down on paper or on your hard drive, or already have a play written and would like some advice on how you can develop it, we are also running a drop in session on Thursday 28th May from 2 – 4pm. You can meet with a writer, discuss your play and ideas and get some advice on what to do next. No booking necessary. Just call in and see us.
Calderdale Young Shorts is looking for plays written by young people. The plays should be approximately 5 - 10 minutes in length. They can be on any subject. The only limit is your imagination...
