Local accountants Cresswells backs Arts Festival

Local accountants Cresswells have signed a new deal to sponsor this year's Street Sundae event during Hebden Bridge Arts Festival in July.
The town's largest firm of chartered accountants are throwing their weight behind one of the North's best street festivals that features some of Europe's top performers showing off their talents in front of thousands of spectators on five sites across the town.
Cresswells opened its doors when penny farthings were the favoured mode of transport outside its Market Street base, and they have seen the town change from being a major textile provider through its decline when the mills closed to the town's more recent renaissance as one of the best places to live in the UK.
The team have just celebrated the 125th anniversary of the firm's creation so they decided they wanted to back one of the region's best arts festivals.
Cresswells Partner John Dakin said, "We have watched the festival expand over the years, and it just felt the right time to become a sponsor this year, so when we looked at the programme the best fit for us was the Street Sundae event which is truly spectacular.
"We are proud of the services we provide to local businesses and the chance to support the Arts Festival, which continues to grow and grow, allows us to put something back into the community we serve, especially as the Street Sundae is a free event open to all."
As well sponsoring Street Sundae the deal includes Cresswells doing the festival's books this year.
Festival Artistic Director Helen Meller said, "Last year was a record year for bookings so it is great for us as a charity that an experienced team like Creswells will be doing our accounts and offering us advice.
"The support we get from local business is very important to the festival so to secure the support of a firm that began life when Queen Victoria was on the throne can only help us attract some top class street performers from across Europe."
The Street Sundae event sponsored by Cresswells Accountants takes place on Sunday 5 July.
