The Now Show's Mitch Benn in Hebden Bridge!
Wednesday, 3 December 2014
Since 2011 The Hebden Bridge Comedy Club have dedicated themselves to bringing the very best in fine, stand up comedy to the town. Sunday 14th December is a case in point when a familiar voice from the radio joins a familiar face from the telly.
Musical comedian Mitch Benn may not look that familiar but if you're a fan of Radio 4's 'The Now Show' you'll certainly recognise the voice as Mitch regularly performs satirical songs alongside Steve Punt, Hugh Dennis and Marcus Brigstocke. He's also a firm favourite with audiences as diverse as BBC1's The One Show and Glastonbury Festival's infamous comedy tent. Mitch also tours with his band Mitch Benn and The Distractions which includes at least one person from Hebden Bridge.
It's three years since Manchester's Tony Burgess last appeared in Hebden Bridge and is a seasoned pro at the stand up game and was traipsing up and down the country developing tightly written gags and an instantly winning stage persona while his peers were shaking their thangs down at The Hacienda.
Tony has collaborated with Johnny Vegas, John Bishop, Stewart Lee and Steve Coogan to name just a few. A former 'City Life Comedian Of The Year' he is now better known as Moz's brother, 'DJ Troy', in cult BBC sitcom 'Ideal'.
