Cider World Cup kicks off in Hebden Bridge this Saturday

Tuesday, 10 June 2014

We've all gone a bit cycling-loopy just lately, but for those with more of an eye on the football in Brazil this weekend, the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge is the place to be to get your party started.

The Cider World Cup kicks off on Saturday, serving up a perfect combination of international ciders, music, delicious food and England's first match live on the big screen.

The weekend's summer cider festival has been put together by our local cider experts, The Real Cider Company, and runs at the Trades Club this Saturday and Sunday, 14th-15th June, from midday onwards.

Phil Kennedy, MD of the Real Cider Company, says, "We're second to none in supporting Britain's craft cider makers, but as it's the World Cup, we decided to broaden our horizons for this year's summer cider festival in Hebden Bridge. We've hunted down some fantastic continental ciders.

"We hope people will come and explore the diversity of cider and discover some truly special and unique flavours."

Since it's not all about the football, there will be live music on both days from bands including Creedy, Keefer, Brian Toberman, Deer Hare, The Good Intentions and the Tree Fellers.

The Real Cider Company is also featuring its newest cider at the festival. Bramley Swiggins has been flying off the shelves since it was launched in May to celebrate the Grand Départ. Available on draught and in bottles, Bramley Swiggins, says Phil Kennedy, "is full of appley flavour but light and very drinkable, perfect for this summer."

Entry to the Cider World Cup is free and the Trades Club bar will be open serving the usual range of drinks. Delicious food will be available throughout the weekend, provided by Lhamo's Kitchen.
