Local campaigner goes from fighting cuts to fighting elections in Mytholmroyd

Local campaigner Charlotte Brady is standing as the Labour party candidate for Luddendenfoot ward in the council elections on 22 May.
 
Charlotte, who has worked in Mytholmroyd for 13 years, got involved in politics following the threatened closure of Calderdale Sure Start nurseries.
 
A mother of three, Charlotte organised a successful campaign against closure with the help of local residents, parents, educators and Labour Councillors.
 
Now Charlotte hopes to tackle a broader range of local issues by standing for election to Calderdale council. Charlotte has been campaigning on urgent concerns raised by Luddendenfoot residents including jobs, community regeneration, and the threatened closure of Calderdale A&E.
 
Labour Councillor Simon Young commented told the HebWeb, "I was really impressed by Charlotte's campaigning to save Sure Start centres. She's new to politics, but she's in this for all the right reasons."
 
The Luddendenfoot ward covers Mytholmroyd, Luddenden, Luddendenfoot, Booth, Wainstalls, Midgley and Cragg Vale.
 
Charlotte, who has 3 boys aged 7, 4 and 1, said: "I am delighted to have this chance to serve the local community. People here are proud of their area but rightly concerned about issues including jobs, local services and regeneration. We need to work together to tackle these problems."
