Labour's Josh Fenton-Glynn to fast in 'End Hunger Fast' campaign
Wednesday, 5 March 2014
Calder Valley Labour candidate Josh Fenton-Glynn has committed to joining a day of fasting organised by a group of charities campaigning to end hunger in the UK.
People from across the country will join the "End Hunger Fast" daylong fast on 4th April.
Josh told the HebWeb, "The fact that Calderdale has two food banks and will soon have a third shows the best and worst of our country.
"I have nothing but admiration for the fantastic people running food banks who give up time to help support those in need.
"But the situation has to change. We simply shouldn't have queues of people having to rely on food handouts in modern Britain. We need more decent jobs, better pay and a welfare system that works.
"If I can draw attention to that by giving up food for one day then that has to be worthwhile, so I welcome the End Hunger Fast campaign and am proud to be taking part."
