Hebden Royd Big Spring Clean - volunteers wanted

Tuesday, 25 March 2014

Volunteers wanted for three opportunities this weekend to make Hebden Royd cleaner and greener, and improve its flood resilience; take your pick

Nutclough Woods, Hebden Bridge, Saturday 29 March 2014
The 'Friends of' Group are cleaning up Nutclough Woods in Hebden Bridge. Meet Gavin Roberts at the entrance to the Woods on Keighley Road (by the side of the former Nutclough Tavern HX7 8HA) at 10:30am to help tidy up this community space as part of the 'Hebden Royd Spring Clean'. Bring a packed lunch, if staying for the whole day (till 3-4pm).

River Stewardship activity on the River Calder at Mytholmroyd Sunday 30 March 2014

This second river stewardship event is part of the Big Spring Clean organised by Hebden Royd Town Council (HRTC). It will be a morning session, running from 10am until 1pm - meet on the grassed slipway access to the riverbank, opposite the Co-op petrol garage on Burnley Road in Mytholmroyd. Car parking is problematic on this busy part of the A646, so please park in the village centre and walk, or avoid bringing a vehicle if you can. Strong boots or wellingtons will be suitable footwear for the task, tools and gloves will be provided.

Spring Clean on the Rochdale Canal Mytholmroyd, Sunday 30 March 2014

As well as the river stewardship event in the morning, there is also a canal-based activity in the afternoon 2-4pm as part of the Hebden Royd Big Spring Clean.

Hebden Royd Big Spring Clean

Tuesday, 4 March 2014

The annual Hebden Royd Big Spring Clean will take place on the 29th and 30th March, and will see community groups from across Hebden Royd rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in to the Big Spring Clean. From parks to towpaths and woodlands to streets, Hebden Royd will be getting a bit of TLC when the groups take to the streets armed with litter pickers.

The event is organised and sponsored by Hebden Royd Town Council and each group of 6 people that takes part will receive £60 towards their charity or project.

Spring Clean

Councillor Yorke, Chair of the Environment & Allotment Committee said

'Our annual Spring Clean up is an important event in our Calendar, it gives community groups the opportunity to raise some much needed funds for their organisations and at the same time improves the environment of the area for the benefit of all'

Last year saw record breaking numbers taking part and we hope that more groups will join in this year. It is a perfect opportunity to raise money for your community project as well as making the area you like in that bit nicer.
